Did you know that the Monday of the last full week of January is called “Blue Monday?” It is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year based on weather, time since the holiday season, debt level, new year resolution fails, and low motivational levels. Interesting that today also happens to be Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in honor of a great humanitarian and civil rights activist.
In honor of MLK day and the supposed most depressing day of the year, I’m throwing some motivation your way. Yep, that means quotes. Here are a few great MLK Jr. quotes.
“Let no man pull you low enough to hate him”
“The time is always right to do what is right.”
“Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek but a means by which we arrive at that goal.”
“A soul generated by love.” How great is that?! Call me cheesy, but I think it is so important to take time to make love a priority. Don’t get me wrong, I’m far from perfect at it, but I want to work on being better. The truth of the matter is that sometimes it takes a conscious effort to care about others, but that conscious effort is worth it. We can make every single day better for someone else and it is so much easier than we think. Kindness is not a weakness and it will never go out of style.
Do something nice for someone else today. Do something nice for someone else every day.
And have a great Monday.
